Risky Link Building Tactics That Might Harm Your SEO
Today, as well as, 5-6 years ago, the matter of link building is extremely important and widely spoken about in the world of SEO (search engine optimization). The reason for that is pretty simple: back-links are still one of the most important ranking factors.
The struggle between webmasters and Google seems to be endless. Every time SEOs discover a new way to effect search rankings of a website, Google bans the scheme and lots of websites get penalized. The information looses its freshness pretty quickly in SEO. Lots of popular techniques that were effective last year is a waste of time now.
In this post we will cover the most common link building tactics that I would not suggest to use or use them very carefully.
Blog Reviews
People who are in SEO for more than 2 years know the websites that get bloggers and SEOs together. These are websites like SponsoredReviews.com where you can purchase links from blogs. It is out of the questions that most of the blogs there were created for pure money making sake and give little real value to a surfer.
Thus it is not recommended to purchase reviews at websites like described above, unless you see the blog you consider for purchasing a review from offers more than low quality content with keyword rich anchor texts in links.
Links from blogs are not harmful, but spammy links from low quality sources might be the cause for Google penalty.
Blog Comments
There are billions of blogs where they do not moderate comments. Lots of black-hat SEOs search for such blogs to spam them with meaningless comments under weird nicknames like ‘buy cheap ugg boots’ or ‘replica watches’. Some of the commenting link spammers don’t even write unique comments for each blog.
If you are using this technique then stop it immediately. Links in blog comments (like in blog reviews) are not harmful if done correctly. Write a good comment which would be a real reflection of what the blog writers had written about and use your or your website name as a nickname in the corresponding field. That would be natural, but you too should keep in mind the blog must be quality too and is not polluted with spammy comments and/or adult neighbors.
Don’t Run Into the Ground
It is general tactic that you should avoid and be careful with more then with any other. Lots of SEOs, once succeeded in something, they start to focus too much on it. Remember no matter you do to achieve higher rankings it much as natural as possible.
If you purchased 10 reviews of your company at 10 high-quality blogs and got better rankings for your keywords, so not rush into purchasing 100 more, because there is a great risk to get negative effect. The rule of not going to far applies to everything you do in SEO.
Unfortunately there are lots of examples when website sky-rocked to the top of Google search results and then went to the bottom because of over-optimization. Be patient and remember Google becomes cleverer and cleverer every day. Keep an eye on your content and do natural link building and you will benefit from great volume of search traffic.

Yes i agree with you. Before commenting anything, one should read whole blog carefully and if don’t like anything then should ask why and should give the reason .More natural way , more help full for search engine.
I agree, especially on the blog commenting. These are basically glorified link farms and will be penalised sooner rather than later.
Seems like a good web host I will buy it soon. thanks
